23/02/2010 - News on Academy Proposals for Unity College

YOU ARE INVITED TO SHARE YOUR VIEWS ON NEW ACADEMY PROPOSALS

Students, staff, parents and key stakeholders are invited to attend a public meeting on 1 March at Unity College to hear about exciting plans for the David Ross Foundation’s proposed Northampton academy.

The meeting will be held between 7pm and 8.30pm and is the first event in a series of consultation events which will be held at Unity College in March 2010. This is the first meeting in the formal academy consultation; it will be followed up with three drop-in sessions on Monday 8, 15 and 22 March between 4.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. at Unity College. The formal academy consultation will end on Friday 16 April.

The David Ross Foundation held a series of informal meetings about the proposed academy in November 2009. “I am grateful to the students, staff, parents and residents who have shared with us their views on the proposed academy, these have been hugely helpful. . We would like to hear from all stakeholders and look forward to seeing as many of you at the meeting as can make it.”, said David Ross, Chairman.

The foundation wants to hear what people have to say about the big issues, such as the specialist subjects, curriculum and how the proposed academy can become an important part of the local community.

Three speakers, David Ross, Richard Matthews and Philip Cantwell, will cover a range of topics including the name for the proposed academy, the curriculum and raising standards through pastoral care and the house system. There will be ample opportunity for the audience to ask questions, and share their views via the questionnaire, drop-in sessions and the website. The foundation will publish feedback from the consultation on the website. www.drf-newacademy.co.uk
